Inositol
Inositol is the part of vitamin B-complex. It is so-called sugar alcohol, which is found in many foods, particularly cereals with high cellulose content. It is required for proper pattern of cell membranes. Although nutritionists have been conscious of Inositol for many years, the study shows that Inositol may help to alleviate certain psychiatric conditions. It concerns nerve communication and helps in transporting fats in the body. Inositol changes from Inositol hexaniacinate, a form of vitamin B3.

Inositol helps to eliminate fats from the liver and is vital in the formation of lecithin and the proper preservation of cholesterol levels, baldness, eczema, psoriasis, cardiovascular disease, cirrhosis of the liver, glaucoma, obesity, gallbladder disease and multiple sclerosis

The sources by which we can get Inositol

Nuts, beans, wheat and wheat bran, cantaloupe, whole grains, citrus fruit, seeds, meats, oat flakes, raisins, and brewers Yeast are excellent sources of Inositol. Most dietary Inositol is in the form of phytate.

Usually Dosage

Most people have no need to take Inositol. In addition, the small amounts usually found in multivitamin supplement are perhaps unnecessary and ineffective. Doctors sometimes suggest 500 mg twice per day.

The side effects of Inositol are minimum. It is consider that Inositol’s regulation of serotonin may increase sleep and help patients with insomnia, though there are not currently any valid clinical studies to back this up. No known cases of Inositol toxicity have been reported in text, but diarrhea may be analytic of overdose. Pregnant women should consult with a physician prior to supplementing with Inositol as Inositol has been seen to bring on uterine contractions and may contribute to early delivery.

Safety Issues

Safety has not been reputable in young children, women who are pregnant or nursing, and those with severe liver and kidney disease.
